The Lakeland Interpretive Society was established in 1995 and became a registered charity in 1999. Through a stewardship agreement with Lac La Biche County, the Lakeland Interpretive Society has been overseeing operations for the Lac La Biche Museum since 2014.  The Society is dedicated to the development of a facility that will be the hub that provides interpretive, historical, and cultural programs to the Lac La Biche County and Lakeland Region. 

The Lac La Biche Museum summer hours run from May to August, daily from 9am to 5pm.

From September to April, open Tuesday to Saturday from 9am to 5pm.

We offer monthly programs which are free to attend.  Donations are accepted.

Spring into the season with Century of Adventures: The Legacy of Lac La Biche Tourism, an engaging new exhibit that traces the evolution of tourism and community events in the Lac La Biche region.

From early hotels to major community celebrations, this exhibit highlights key moments that shaped how locals and visitors experienced Lac La Biche over the decades. Highlights include:

• Lac La Biche Inn: Explore artifacts from the hotel that became a cornerstone of local tourism.
• Sports Days & Dominion Day Events: Discover how baseball, parades, and dances paved the way for modern celebrations like the Pow Wow.
• The First Fish Derby & Pow Wow: Learn how these iconic events got their start — and how clever promotion turned the “5th Pow Wow” into a historic moment.
• Desperado Sailboat Race Posters: Soak in the 1980s summer energy with vibrant visuals from Lac La Biche’s lake culture.

With stories, artifacts, and memories that span generations, this exhibit brings to life the spirit of adventure that defines the Lac La Biche region.

Vintage Toys & Games  April 2 – July 1, 2025

Step back in time and relive the joy of childhood at the Vintage Toys & Games exhibit, running from April 2 to July 1, 2025, at the Lac La Biche Museum. Featuring over 70 iconic toys and games from the 1950s to the 1980s, this exhibit is a nostalgic journey through decades of play.

From colourful board games and action figures to handheld devices and classic consoles, visitors of all ages will find something to spark a memory or ignite curiosity. Highlights include:

• Hands-on stations with original Atari and Nintendo systems
• A 1950s View-Master for a 3D peek into superhero adventures
• Classic games like Perfection and other interactive experiences

Whether you're sharing your favourite childhood toys with your kids or revisiting old favourites yourself, this exhibit offers a playful and engaging experience for the whole family.
