The Lac La Biche Heritage Society is a not for profit, charitable organization that was formed on October 18th, 1972 and registered under the Societies Act of Alberta on June 12th, 1975. The Heritage Society is a very active organization, providing for the recreational and social needs of the senior citizens in Lac La Biche County. Any individuals over 50 years of age are eligible for membership. The Society is managed by an elected Board of Directors and has a current membership roster of approximately 175 seniors. The Society also owns and manages the Lac La Biche Seniors Centre which serves as the main venue for activities and events.
OBJECTS OF THE SOCIETY
"The purpose of the Lac La Biche Heritage Society is to benefit the community by relieving conditions associated with aging by establishing, operating and maintaining a senior citizens centre to provide programs and services and to organize social and recreational activities for senior citizens."
The society owns and manager the Lac La Biche Senior Centre, which serves as the main venue for activities and events. We rent out the hall and or kitchen to the public. If you are a member, there are discounted rates of 50% off rental fees. All funeral rentals are 20% off. Please call us at 780-623-8350 for more information.
The society owns a 24 passenger bus which we use for our bus trips. Our bus is available for rent. For more information, please give us a call.
Membership is $10 per year and is available for individuals 50 years of age. With a membership comes discounts and voting rights at our meetings. You can get an associate membership if you are under 50 and would like to join our society (you will not have voting rights).
We offer a variety of scheduled activities including:
-Men's Coffee and Pool-8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. Monday and Thursday. Great coffee, lively conversations, and challenging pool games. Get up to date on all the news and happenings in the area.
- Ladies Coffee Group - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Mondays Come with your friends and catch up on the news. Enjoy some coffee and great conversations.
- Quilting-4:00 - 9:00 p.m. Wednesday Evening of quilting, sharing of techniques and ideas. This group brings their own equipment and projects to work on. To join, contact Janet at the Centre, or drop by and visit.
- Ladies Coffee and Crafts-1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. every Thursday. Knitting, crocheting, rug hooking, and assorted crafting. All members welcome to join for coffee and comradery.
- EAT TO LIVE (Eat 2 Live) Join us every 2nd Wednesday of the month, for an affordable and nutritious meal designed for our Seniors. Served on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at noon, by our wonderful volunteers. Cost $13.00 for members, $15.00 for non-members
- Floor Curling 1:00 p.m. every Friday Enjoy fine friends, lots of laughs and great exercise. Occasionally a pot-luck lunch is thrown in the mix to be enjoyed by all.
- Health & Wellness 1:00 p.m. - Every 3rd Wednesday of the month - Join in on topics concerning Seniors' health and wellness. To include speakers on various subjects of concern, all in the comfort of your own home. All presentation are via Zoom.
We also have addition events such as Senior' Week, Cribbage Tournaments, Musical Entertainment, Christmas Craft Sale and Party and Various Bus Trips.
