The Monte Carlo Rally was first held January 21st, 1911! That means this unique race has been running for 113 years! It is the oldest rally race in the world.
The first race had 23 competitors. The drivers set off from 11 different European cities. This winner of this first race had a route that covered, 1,020km. It was known for its long distances and gruelling stages, with winding roads and tight corners.
Today, the race is not ran the same as in 1911, but it is still going strong and one of the most popular races in the world.
