Donkey Kong, a video game created by Nintendo, was released July 9, 1981. That makes it 44 years ago on Wednesday.
🕹This was the debut of the character “Jumpman”, who then in the Donkey Kong Jr. game, was changed to Mario!
🕹Donkey Kong was the first video game to incorporate “cutscenes”. This was where the play stops, and the game has non-interactive scenes that move the plot along. 🤓
🕹Mario is featured in new games and merchandise and remains one of Nintendo’s most iconic mascots.
