Baseball fans! It is the trip to the World Series, and our Toronto Blue Jays are in the running! They have not made it to the ALCS since 2016, when they played (and yes defeated by) Cleveland.
Here are a few fun facts about the Jays:
– On April 7th, 1977, the Blue Jays took the field for the first time. It was in Exhibition Stadium with over 44,000 fans in attendance. They played the Chicago White Sox.
– The name, Toronto Blue Jays, was decided by a contest with over 4,000 entries submitted in 1976.
– The logo first had a blue jay with a maple leaf in the background. Then in 1977 the change to the “Jays head” happened, where it was used till 2011. A more modern version of the “Jays head” evolved and is used today.
– World Series winners in 1992 and 1993.
