Here are a couple of fun facts on jigsaw puzzles:

Accidental Origins: The very first jigsaw puzzle was created around 1760–1767 by British mapmaker John Spilsbury, who glued a map to wood and cut out the countries using a fretsaw to help children learn geography. Originally, they were called Dissected Maps.

Mind-Boggling Records: The largest commercial puzzle available is a Ravensburger puzzle named “Memorable Disney Moments,” featuring a staggering 40,320 pieces and measuring over 6 meters wide. Meanwhile, the Guinness World Records-verified largest puzzle contains a massive 551,000 pieces.

Lightning-Fast Solvers: The record for the fastest 250-piece puzzle solver belongs to 15-year-old Deepika Ravichandran, who completed an oval puzzle in just 13 minutes and 7 seconds—completely without a guide picture!
