Join us in Lac La Biche on February 28th, March 1st and 2nd for weekend of high-speed action and family fun.  YES, it is now a 3-day event!

The festival has grown tremendously over the last few years, and the organizers have decided to change the name of the event.  It's official...the Winter Festival of Speed is now the Lac La Biche Ice Festival!  This year's line-up has our famous signature events and new ones too!  There is something for everyone.

Entry Fees: Kids 8 and under Free, $10 per person, $40 groups 5-7 people (one vehicle)

Cash and debit accepted at the gate and registration, but other activities require cash; concession, on-ice vendors, etc. 

Please dress for the weather, this is an outdoor event on the lake.  Parking is in designated areas.  Please expect to walk - see the map HERE

NOTE: NO Drones Allowed.

Friday, Feb 28  NEW!!

3pm-6pm  Ice Block-Party in Lac La Biche! – FREE!  Kids, teens, adults…everyone is invited to the kick-off party! Get up close with the machines you will see at the festival this weekend; Mega Trucks, ice race cars and snowmobiles.  Enjoy music with DJ Raylene Cardinal, free gourmet hotdogs, and hot chocolate. Hosted by Community Learning  (101 Ave 102 St. LLB Next to Scotiabank)

8pm Country Music Concert at the Bold Centre featuring Jess Moskaluke with Arron Pritchett Friday evening. Opening act Olivia Rose of Elk Point, Alberta.  Tickets available in person at the Bold Centre or through Ticketmaster HERE (while tickets last)

8am-10:30am Pancake Breakfast on the ice.  Hosted by LLB Back Country Riders Snowmobile Club  More info HERE

8am–12pm  Race Car Registration & Snowmobiles - Look for the registration trailer. 

9am–4pm 

Concessions - Cabane a Sucre, Frenchie Burgers & Fries, Big Wayne's Mini Treats and TP Foods.  From 10am-4pm Visit the  Multi-Cultural Food Fair – Mexican, Vietnamese, East Indian, Ukrainian and Philippine cuisine.

NEW! Youth Pond Hockey Tournament is back! The Rob McCormick Memorial tournament has been missed over the last few years, and the kids return this year.  Located at the festival centre, come and cheer them on!  Age U7 & U9 teams. Hosted by Lac La Biche Kinsmen Club 

Aircraft Fly-in - Eyes to the sky! Watch the planes fly-in all day...over 100 aircraft are expected this weekend.  Catch the shuttle to the ice "runway" to meet the pilots and check out the planes. (Fly-in at own risk)  Hosted by LLB Flying Club. More info HERE

Ice & Snow Sculpting - There will be five ice and snow carving artists creating 4 themed designs; an eagle, walleye, wolf and throne along with an Indigenous themed sculpture.   Artists -Sculptors' Association of Alberta 

Introduction to Snowmobile Rider Training - Your chance to try snowmobiling, no experience necessary.   2 tracks set up; one for kids and one for adults. Both Days! No fee, by donation. Hosted by the LLB Back Country Riders

NEW! Visit the First Nation 18ft Teepee! Sit around the fire and talk with First Nations Elders.  Hosted by the LLB Lions Club

Axe Throwing - Unleash your inner lumberjack!  Get some instruction and pointers, then ready...aim...BULLSEYE!  Try your luck at the cash prizes!  (some fees apply).  Hosted by LLB Trappers

1-4pm  Car Ice Races - It's the Western Canadian Ice Racing Championships.  This is the anchor event with drivers from across Canada. High octane, fast pace...not to be missed.  Watch both days from 1-4pm. There are bleachers set up to watch from, or you can park around the track to watch! 4:20-4:40pm Charity Races - This is unique opportunity! Drivers give up their cars to amateur drivers and teach them a thing or two. Today is practice and the race is on Sunday at 4:20pm.  No other entries are being accepted...the race is FULL at 15 cars! 

5pm   Dinner & Entertainment - Dinner & Music in the Community Hall at the Bold Centre. Room. Enjoy delicious roast beef supper and great entertainment.  Music by local talent Insufficient Funds.  Supper catered by Shelley Nahorney of We Cook LLB.  Bar hosted by LLB Curling Club.  Tickets are $40. Tickets are $40. Pre-event tickets available at Screenshot Computers and The Stichin’ Man.  Saturday on the ice at the registration trailer or at the door (if not sold out). 50/50 Raffle hosted by LLB Heritage Centre.

Ride starts at 10am (No fee, by donation) Your chance to get bring out your good ol' sled and go for a leisure ride with other vintage sleds, but of course all sleds are welcome.   Enjoy lunch at the LLB Mission before travelling back.  Hosted by LLB Back Country Riders
