Qualifications
● Minimum 14+ years of age at start of season
● 5+ years of ballet and jazz technique training
● Training in other styles is an asset
● Prior experience working with young children is an asset but not required
● Reliable, punctual, and professional
● Friendly, patient, and enthusiastic about working with young dancers
● Able to take direction from Lead Instructor and Studio Management
Job Description
Northern Beat Dance Academy is in search of Junior Instructors for our upcoming 2025/2026 season. We are looking for enthusiastic dancers who are hoping to expand and share their skills with the youngest generation of our club. The role involves teaching a variety of dance styles, creating age-appropriate choreography, supervising students during class, and preparing them for the recital. Classes are 30 minutes in length and may be scheduled on multiple evenings per week, with the opportunity to teach more than one class per evening. We are in search of instructors for the following classes;
● Creative Movement ages 3-4 - 10 weeks ● Pre-School Hip Hop ages 3-4 - 10 weeks
● Mini Ballet, ages 5-6 - 10 Weeks ● Mini Jazz ages 5-6 - 10 Weeks
● Mini Hip Hop ages 5-6 - 10 Weeks ● Acro Tots ages 5-6 - 10 weeks
● Beginner Ballet tech & Choreo, age 6 - Full Year
● Beginner Jazz Tech & Choreo, age 6 - Full Year
● Beginner Hip Hop Tech & Choreo, age 6 - Full Year
● Beginner Tap Tech & Choreo, age 6 - Full Year
● Novice Tap, ages 6+ - Full Year, (potential comp class)
● Rec Ballet age 7+ Full Year ● Rec Jazz, age 7+ Full Year ● Rec Lyrical, age 7+ Full Year
Tasks & Responsibilities
● Instruct students in an interesting and dynamic way
● Provide a fun, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
● Develop and teach age-appropriate choreography
● Ensure the safety and supervision of all students during class time
● Communicate effectively and positively with dancers, parents, and studio staff
● Maintain classroom management, encouraging respect, participation, and focus
● Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and recital events
● Practice and choreograph routines
● Work in collaboration with the society’s instructors
● Teach class in accordance with the society’s syllabus
● Help plan and run recitals
