This day in history in 1912 one of the most famous tragedies in modern history occurred.
It was the luxury liners maiden voyage. The trip started April 10th; leaving Southampton, England, en route to New York City.
Late in the evening, near midnight on April 14th, the ship hit an ice burg off the coast of Newfoundland. In the early morning of April 15th, the ship sank and about 1,500 people were killed.
