Summer has officially been here for 21 days (just 3 weeks), but with our wet weather it sure doesn’t feel like it. There are lots of signs that is it here though. Some of them bigger than others. Try our photo jigsaw to see what this little one is.

International Rock Day falls on July 13th each year. We’re celebrating the ultimate outdoor treasure hunt—from ordinary pebbles with extraordinary histories to mysterious hag stones and literal shooting stars.
Here are a few fun facts:
1. Pebbles are only “pebbles” if they measure between 2 and 64mm in diameter. Anything smaller is sand, and anything large is a cobble.
2. Hag Stones are “Magic Filters”. (Also called fairy stones or adder stones) They have a naturally occurring hole running through them. In ancient folklore, it was believed that looking through the hole of a hag stone allowed you to see into the fairy realm.
3. Shooting Stars are space rocks! A meteoroid that has burned up in the Earth’s atmosphere and hits the ground then becomes a meteorite.
