December 12th is Gingerbread House Day! The smell of fresh gingerbread baking, decorating the cookies and building houses (or even villages) of gingerbread are part of the holidays.
Here are a few things you may not know, or maybe you do, about the “gingerbread house day” timeline:
– “Run, run, run as fast as you can, You can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!” This comes from “The Gingerbread Man”, an American fairy tale from 1875.
– In 2001 the well-known “Gingy” was introduced in the Shrek movie. “Do you know the muffin man?”
– The world’s largest gingerbread man weighed 1,435lbs and was made in 2009.
– The world’s largest gingerbread house covered 2,520sq ft (almost the size of a tennis court) and 21ft high. It was build in 2013.
